About Us
THE COLASO EDUCATION & CHARITABLE TRUST
Colaso’s Opening Minds & Changing Lives has been helping the most vulnerable and socially excluded for nearly 25 years in Niligiris.
We began as a small charity in the Ooty and later in Coonoor, helping people in opening minds and changing minds through education & training, Health, Women empowerment.
We began to look at counselling and psycho-social services to children and adolescents in schools at both micro and macro levels. Educational awareness campaigns are conducted for the general public through periodic meetings. Tribal students from remote hamlets in the Nilgiris face the prospect of technology. They need special attention due to the structural problems of impoverished families.

Battling COVID – 19
The poor and marginalised tribal people have hugely impacted with the consequences of the COVID-19 Corona virus pandemic and the recent lockdown has significantly affected many at risk communities. From the beginning, when COVID-19 started CECT began the service of providing awareness program and non-monetary support of grocery & Mask distribution to the locals.
Our role & support to the tribes of Nilgiris through this time of challenge.
- Medical supplies like PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) Mask & hand sanitizers.
- Dry rations and nutritious meals.
- Financial support in the form of paying school fees for tribal children & household things to marginalized families.
